Hearing Adaptation in Noisy Conditions in Children

Purpose of study: The Human Auditory Development Lab is conducting a study on how factors such as hearing and language affect a person's ability to understand speech in competing backgrounds, like noise and speech.

  • Who can participate: Children with normal hearing who speak Spanish and/or English
  • Compensation: $20/hr
  • Time: One session of 2-2.5 hours
  • Visit Type: In-person
  • Location: Boys Town National Research Hospital Downtown Campus, 555 North 30th Street
  • Participation requirements: Children 7-11 years old with normal hearing, no recent ear infections and no language or learning concerns. Children can be native-monolingual speakers of English OR be conversationally fluent in both Spanish and English. Bilingual children should have learned both languages by age 5.
