The Boys Town Hospital Volunteer Program was created to empower our community and its members through service. We strive to create meaningful opportunities for volunteers to contribute their time, skills and passion to make a positive impact on our patients and families.

Who can be a Boys Town Hospital volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and able to transport themselves or acquire transportation to Boys Town National Research Hospital at 139th and Pacific Street.

What is the time commitment for Boys Town Hospital volunteers?

Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of two hours each week, with a total of eight hours a month. If needed, exceptions can be made for special circumstances (vacations, illness, etc.). 

Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 18 are asked to make an initial commitment of 6 months to be considered. Volunteers ages 19 and older are asked to make an initial commitment of 1 year to be considered.

What do Boys town Hospital volunteers do?

The Boys Town Hospital volunteer program offers a variety of options to fit the skills of both teens and adults. Tasks may include:

  • Greeting and escorting patients
  • Serving as an internal courier or runner for clinic staff
  • Engaging patients in waiting room with interactive activities
  • Making rounds with the activity cart (coloring, books, crafts) or coffee cart
  • Providing clerical support
  • Reading to patients
  • Taking patients on wagon rides
  • Cleaning toys

What are the benefits of being a Boys Town Hospital volunteer?

In addition to the gratification of making a difference in the lives of the patients at Boys Town National Research Hospital and Boys Town Pediatrics, volunteers will receive a:

We also invite volunteers to connect with the volunteer program leader about a letter of recommendation or character reference based on the work they do through the program.

Where does the Boys Town Hospital volunteer program take place?

While we have several clinic locations throughout the Omaha Metro, the volunteer program is currently based solely at our Pacific Street Medical Campus on 139th and Pacific Street.

How do I become a Boys Town Hospital volunteer?
