For Researchers
Boys Town National Research Hospital is an ideal institution for conducting clinic-translational research, in large part due to access to patients. Our pediatrics and audiology practices are the largest in Omaha. We have over 500 cochlear implant patients and continue to add new patients annually. We also house the largest preschool in the area designed to support children with hearing loss.
Our research department continues to grow. Research faculty positions have increased over 25% since 2014. The areas of neurobehavioral, communication, and language research have a growing focus and new initiatives. The hospital received a Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant award in 2014 and founded the Center for Perception and Communication in Children. This transformational hearing research aims to understand the consequences of childhood hearing loss on speech and language perception and processing.

Human Subjects
Human Subjects Core Services serves the research aims of investigators by assisting with subject recruitment, database administration and expertise in clinical measurements for hearing, cognition and language.
Technology
Technology Core Services offers state-of-the-art software and hardware to assist all levels of the research team. Custom lab software, hardware design, data analysis support and technical expertise are available.

Anechoic Chamber
Our
Anechoic Chamber Core Facility is an advanced sound research facility that can help answer a wide range of sound related questions.
Auditory-Visual (AV)
The
Auditory-Visual (AV) Core Facility is ideal for research on spatial effects of auditory and visual sound sources on children’s speech perception and comprehension, with special emphasis on the listening needs in children with hearing loss.
